SAAR Approver Guidelines and Information
Understand your role in reviewing System Authorization Access Request (SAAR) approvals.
Why am I receiving System Authorization Access Request approval emails?
You have been designated as an approver in the automated SAAR workflow, and your approval or denial is required for requests to proceed. Before taking action, confirm that the access is necessary and appropriate for the requester's duties. An approved request moves to the next step in the workflow; a denied request is returned to the requester.
What is my role and responsibility in the SAAR approval process?
Your role is to review and either approve or deny the request so the SAAR workflow can continue. Responsibilities depend on your role:
- Supervisor or sponsor: Attests to the user's need for access and ensures the user is requesting the correct attributes.
- Security manager: Ensures the requester's clearance information is accurate.
- Information owner: Validates the user's need for access.
How does automated SAAR replace DD Form 2875?
See the SAAR overview for the digital workflow and record-keeping model. As an approver, act on the routed request rather than circulating a separate paper or PDF signature copy.
What is SailPoint?
SailPoint provides the DAF ICAM governance service used by the approval workflow. See the IGA explanation for lifecycle and review capabilities, and least privilege for the access-review principle.
